Ilaria Bruck began her yoga journey at the age of 18, following a recommendation from her chiropractor to help manage chronic back pain. She soon discovered that yoga offered far more than physical relief—it became a powerful tool for emotional regulation and easing anxiety. A serious injury several years later became a turning point, with yoga serving as her constant support and teacher, cultivating resilience, acceptance, and the art of surrender.
Ilaria trained initially in the Ashtanga tradition under the guidance of Paul Kleesmaa in Nottingham, UK. Over the past 13 years, she has developed a deep and nuanced understanding of the practice through sustained study and commitment. Her teaching has been shaped by mentorship and influence from internationally renowned teachers including Gregor Maehle and John Scott, as well as senior teachers Amanda Stead and founders Greg and Tracy Cooper at the Ashtanga Yoga Centre of Melbourne.
As co-owner of the Ashtanga Yoga Centre of Melbourne, Ilaria is passionate about breaking down barriers to yoga and making the practice accessible to all. Her teaching approach emphasises therapeutic modifications, clear and thoughtful instruction, personalised attention, and in-depth exploration of philosophy, anatomy, and functional movement. She encourages students to cultivate sustainable practices, manage their energy wisely, and prioritise internal awareness, harmony, and curious self-inquiry.
In addition to teaching daily Ashtanga classes, Ilaria offers teacher mentoring, disability and community classes, and occasional restorative, Yin, and anatomy workshops. With over 8,000 hours of teaching experience, she continues to expand her knowledge through workshops, retreats, and ongoing training, including her current studies in Zenthai Shiatsu Therapy. Yoga has been a profound teacher throughout her life, and she feels deeply honoured to share its gifts with others.
