Fusion of a Vinyasa breath flow with a Yin style end.
A niche session designed for women traversing the complicated life transition of perimenopause and menopause, led by Annebelle van Tongeren, a Senior Level 3 teacher with Yoga Australia, certified in Menopause Yoga. You’ll experience appropriate movement, mantra, breathworth and self-soothing practices to bring you back to centre when you’re feeling untethered and unlike the You who you know so well. Bring your bolster, blanket and eye pillow if you have them, but these are not essential if you don’t. Release, let go, chill out and relax. This hour is an opportunity for you to sit, or lie back and close your eyes as Gaelle sings mantras like lullabies drawing you deeper into the space of calmness and peacefulness. Using vocals and harmonium along with sound bowls and chimes, the sounds encourages a time for troubles to ease and awareness to rise to the surface. Doing less to feel more is the aim for this practice.
In this session, you naturally invoke your subtle energy channels (Chakras); and reconnect to your ever-present deepest levels of peace (Shanthi). Easy to follow guidance that inspires you to leave mental distractions behind and seamlessly flow through - majestic expressions from ancient practices of dance yoga(Natya); -hand gestures (Mudras); -and tranquil sounds (Mantra and Raga); - infused into traditional yoga poses, breath and deep relaxation. Our practice begins with a calming, centring chakra awareness sound meditation. We cleanse and activate the energy centres in the body through breath and mantra. We will chant simple yet powerful mantras and healing medicine songs to open our hearts and uplift our spirits (a mini kirtan!). Our journey of the healing power of sound concludes with "Rest with the Harp", a unique opportunity to allow the magical tones of live harp music to help soothe and balance the nervous system and enable your body to deeply rest. An immersive practice blending yoga, breath, kriya and sound vibration. Through intentional movement and guided breathwork, you’ll activate and ground into the present moment, ready to connect with your inner light, and honour your energy for the weekend of magic ahead. No experience needed—just come as you are.
Yoga bolsters are circuit breakers. Lie on a bolster and you immediately to relax. This class is an introduction to how else the bolster can be used in practice. BKS Iyengar built a tradition of using equipment such yoga bolsters as a way to acknowledge the variety of all our body shapes and also differing abilities. Working with bolsters we can experience the release of the deeper muscles and the calming of the nervous system. Our experiential understanding becomes more nuanced and subtle. Through this understanding our practice builds a light gracefulness. Of significance exploring the use of bolsters through our practice helps us to grow a deeper understanding of connection of breath to movement – we learn to explore with a calm and curious mind. *If you don’t own a bolster simply roll up a couple of towels or soft blankets to use.

Yoga massage is a unique form of massage in that it breaks free from the traditional concept of massage being only performed with lotions and oils while bringing meditation and relaxation to the mind and focusing on muscular or fascial tissues and restrictions. It is done on the floor on mats while fully clothed and focuses more on the way that traction can assist deeper energetic release along with rhythmic rocking and pressure along meridian lines to move lymph and stagnant energy through the body.
